Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has once again been recognized for his tireless efforts in Security as he was voted as “The Vanguard of security” by the readers, fans and the editorial team of the Nigerian, a news platform, based in London.
Governor Ortom will be presented with the award at the first anniversary/symposium/ award night of the Nigerian on Friday, August 25, 2017 in London, United Kingdom.
The event which is tagged: “A Greater Nigeria is possible ” will bring together eminent Nigerians and people across the globe.
In a letter of notification of award the online platform wrote to Governor Ortom, it sated: “The Nigerian in it’s commitment to give back to the society, has singled out your eminent personality for the award of the ‘THE VANGUARD OF SECURITY’ in recognition of your immense contribution to good governance, built on accountability and transparency, nationalistic approach to development, administrative acumen and grassroot-oriented leadership and usefulness of purpose to the defence of humanity, the poor and less privileged in the society.”
The organizers also revealed that Governor Ortom’s Amnesty programme and efforts to end the perennial herders/farmers clashes which led to the enactment of Anti-open grazing law were instrumental in the Governor winning the award.
This is not thatfirst time Governor Ortom’s efforts in Security will be recognized.
GovernorOrtom had earlier gained the recognition of the United Nations, UN,in 2016.
He was invited to deliver a keynote address during the 6th Biennial Meetings of States-BMS6 organised by the UNbetween the 6th and 10th of June 2016 in New York, United States of America.
Governor Ortom will be Honoured alongside Lt. General Tukur Yusufu Buratai for his global fight against terrorism in Nigeria and the Lake Chad Basin, Professor Senator BenAyade in recognition of his giant infrastructure development and industrialization, Alhaji Abubakar Sani for his unique leadership qualities centered on community development, Mr. Nduka Obaigbena, for his contributions to democracy and free speech, Ibe Kachikwu for his numerous reforms in the oil and gas sector particularly for making crude products available to the common Nigerian.
Other awardees are; Professor Pantanmi, the DG of NITDA for engineering youth empowerment and ICT revolution in the country and Professor Zana Akpagu, VC UniCal for his rapid transformation of the University of Calabar to a world class model for all Nigerians and other distinguished Nigerians listed by the platform’s Award Committee made up of highly reputed personalities both at home and abroad.
