Scores killed, others injured as gunmen attack Sokoto village

At least three persons have been killed as suspected bandits attacked Soro community in Binji Local Government Area of Sokoto State, and several others suffered injuries.

The attack, confirmed by the Sokoto State Police Command, took place on Monday. According to Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmad Rufai, the bandits targeted the Soro community. Fortunately, the police force, along with military support, successfully thwarted the attack.

Rufai mentioned that in their frustration, the bandits set several houses ablaze, resulting in the loss of three lives and leaving others injured.

Sources within the affected village reported that the marauders not only abducted several individuals but also set multiple locations on fire.

Community members disclosed that vigilante groups retaliated by attacking the Fulani community, prompting the police commissioner to intervene and initiate a dialogue among residents of the affected areas.
