Security operatives bust kidnap syndicate in Benue, arrest suspects in Orokam raid
Security operatives have recorded a major breakthrough in Benue State following the arrest of suspected kidnappers during a coordinated raid on a criminal hideout in Orokam, Ogbadigbo Local Government Area.
The operation, carried out on Saturday, 2nd May 2026, was jointly executed by the military, the Divisional Police Headquarters in Orokam, and Safe City operatives, acting on credible intelligence.
The raid led to the arrest of suspects allegedly linked to a series of kidnappings in the area, including the abduction of Mr. Joseph Idoko, a lecturer at Benue State Polytechnic, Ugbokolo.
Idoko was first kidnapped on 21st June 2025 alongside his daughter. He was again abducted on 27th April 2026 and regained freedom on 1st May 2026 after a ransom was reportedly paid.
Security sources confirmed that the latest operation targeted the kidnappers’ hideout, resulting in the capture of key suspects, while recovery of arms and other exhibits is currently ongoing.
