Idoma currency, otherwise known as Akika are Iron forms with a distinctively hammered surface textures (on the front side) and an abstract, non-functional shape that flares to a triangle at the top, were recognized and used as currency in the extant time among the Idoma speaking people of Benue State.
It has dimensions of 26.5 -33 inches H. x 6.5 -11 inches at bottom.
The currency was used centuries ago before the coming of the colonial masters.
Idoma people occupy the lower western areas of Benue State, Nigeria, and kindred groups can be found in Cross Rivers State, Enugu State and Nasarawa State in Nigeria.
