Senator Jarigbe exposes 2024 budget padding scandal, says some senators got ₦500m

Senator Jarigbe, who represents Cross River North senatorial district, shed further light on the ongoing budget padding controversy. He revealed that certain Senators purportedly received ₦500 million each from the 2024 budget. Notably, Jarigbe clarified that he did not personally receive any such allocation and condemned baseless accusations against others.

His comments were made in response to Senator Abdul Ningi’s earlier claim that a staggering N3.7 trillion had been padded into the 2024 budget. Ningi, chairing the Senate Committee on Population and representing Bauchi Central under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), had expressed serious reservations regarding the budgetary process.

Jarigbe’s stance underscores the intricacies of the issue, emphasizing the imperative of transparency and accountability in budgetary disbursements.
