Senator Moro petitions senate over refusal of PenCom to pay his sick constituent, Gabriel Iduh part of his savings to go for surgery
The Senator representing the people of Benue South Senatorial District, Comrade Abba Patrick Moro, on Tuesday, raised a petition on behalf of a constituent, Mr Gabriel Iduh, on the floor of the Senate over the unwillingness of the Pension Management Commission (PEMCOM) to pay him part of his savings from his Retirement Savings Account, according to the rules and regulations guiding the Commission.
Senator Moro told his colleagues that as at November 2020, Mr. Idu, had Nine Million naira (N9m) in his account.
According to the Senator, Iduh has a medical challenge, which is requiring N2.5m only for surgery. He applied to the Pension Commission to pay to him the N2.5m from his savings account to be able to go for the surgery, but his request was declined.
The Senator said, “In line with the extant regulations guiding pensions account, my constituent has applied that the Senate should intervene to enable the Pension Management Commission pay part of his (Iduh’s) pension to attend to his health challenge.”
Responding, the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, referred the petition to the Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Privileges to report back within four weeks.
