The Senator representing Benue South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Abba Patrick Moro, has promised to liaise with his Ebonyi counterparts to work out strategy that could see that the Internally Displaced Persons in Ado Local Government Area of Benue State return quickly and peacefully to their respective homes.
Moro who visited the camps today (29/05/2021) with the view to consoling and comforting the victims did not go empty-handed as he brought large foodstuffs for them to cushion the effects of their displacement from their homes.
The displaced Persons were being quartered in the various camps located at the LGEA Primary School, Igumale and Apa – Ugbozu in Agila as a result of the Effium and Ezza communal crisis.
Speaking separately at the two venues, Senator Moro, who decried the crisis which orchestrated their being quartered in the camps however, thank God that they were alive.
According to him, “I have come to see things for myself and I am happy that you are all alive even though you are in a place called IDP far away from your houses. God is aware of your condition and will not forsake you”.
The Senator who brought some foodstuffs to the inhabitants of the camps said, “I have brought some foodstuffs for you. It may not last you for too long but will serve you for a while to keep your body and soul together in these camps “.
As for the small children who cannot eat solid food, Senator Moro disclosed that he had made adequate provisions for their beverages stressing that his representative would be visiting the camps regularly with the view to attending to their needs if circumstances forced him not to personally visit them.
Reacting to the visit, an elated priest of the Catholic Church, Reverend Father Ujah who was there said that they were gratified by the visit of the Senator.
Father Ujah who said that Senator Moro was the first leader that has identified with them in their moments of crisis disclosed that most times, “leaders remember us once in four years but you have identified with us more than twice in five months “.
The clergy man who said they were privileged to have Abba Moro as their Senator said he was not surprised that members of the Benue State House of Assembly passed a vote of confidence on him recently.
He prayed to God to grant the Senator more grace and blessings.
