Serie A: Osimhen silences critics, scores for Napoli

Super Eagles forward, Victor Osimhen made a significant impact coming off the bench, scoring the second goal during the Serie A clash against Lecce on Saturday.

Despite not being included in the starting lineup by coach Rudi Garcia, Osimhen showcased his scoring prowess for the second consecutive game following the recent incident where Napoli’s official TikTok account mocked him for a penalty miss against Bologna.

Entering the game in the second half as a substitute for Giovanni Simeone, the 24-year-old swiftly found the net, heading home a beautifully delivered cross from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia at the back post.

Osimhen opted to leave the responsibility of taking a penalty to a teammate for the second consecutive game since the mocking incident regarding his penalty miss.

In the closing minutes of the game, Napoli earned a penalty when Lecce midfielder Ramadani fouled substitute Gianluca Gaetano. Matteo Politano, another substitute, stepped up and successfully converted the penalty.

Napoli are set to face Real Madrid in the second match of the Champions League group stage next Tuesday.
