Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen is under scrutiny for confronting manager Rudi Garcia during their goalless Serie A match against Bologna at the Stadio Dall’Ara on Sunday.
Osimhen missed a crucial penalty before being substituted in the final moments of the game.
As he exited the field, the former Lille standout displayed frustration towards Garcia, gesturing with two fingers towards the coach, indicating his belief that more strikers should be on the field, especially considering the team’s need for a goal.
Il Mattino reported that Osimhen and Garcia are scheduled to meet on Monday at Napoli’s training facility to address the incident, potentially resulting in a fine for the player.
The report mentioned that Napoli’s captain, Giovanni Di Lorenzo, had a stern discussion with Osimhen in the dressing room following the match.
When asked about Osimhen’s furious reaction, Garcia said at his post-match interview: “As for when he went off, we talked about that, what I say to my players remains in the locker room.
“We have a lot of quality in the squad and on the bench, so Simeone, Politano and Elmas came on, I still have Jesper available too,” he said.
Osimhen is aiming to lead Napoli to a win as they take on Udinese in their upcoming match on Wednesday.
