Napoli have initiated contact with Santiago Gimenez from Feyenoord as part of their contingency planning for life beyond Victor Osimhen.
While negotiations for a new contract with Osimhen are ongoing, the Serie A champions are proactively exploring potential replacements in case the striker decides to pursue opportunities elsewhere.
Osimhen’s current contract has less than two years remaining, and discussions regarding an extension have hit a standstill, partly due to off-field distractions, such as the recent TikTok controversy, which has strained relations between the player and the club.
Osimhen played a pivotal role in Napoli’s Scudetto triumph last season, delivering 26 goals in 32 league appearances. While several clubs expressed interest in him over the summer, none could meet his substantial price tag.
Santiago Gimenez, a promising candidate for Osimhen’s position, has been in exceptional form for Feyenoord this season.
The Mexican international boasts an impressive record of 15 goals and three assists in just 11 appearances across all competitions, making him a highly valued asset with a market price of approximately €40 million according to Feyenoord.
