The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed that seven people were killed and four others injured when a truck lost control and collided with two other vehicles along the Lagos/Ibadan Expressway on Saturday morning.
Florence Okupe, the Ogun State Sector’s Route Commander and Chief Public Education Officer of the FRSC, confirmed the tragic accident in a statement issued in Abeokuta, the state capital.
According to the statement, a total of 15 individuals were involved in the crash, including 13 male adults and two females. Among the injured were three male adults and one female adult, while six male adults and one female adult tragically lost their lives.
The FRSC attributed the accident to the excessive speed of the Mack truck driver, which caused the driver to lose control and crash into the other vehicles.
The injured victims were taken to Divine Touch Hospital and Glory Center Hospital in Ibafo, while the bodies of the deceased were moved to Idera Mortuary in Sagamu.
The crash site was cleared and the vehicles were towed off the road to ensure the smooth flow of traffic.
FRSC Sector Commander Fasakin Akinwumi visited the scene to conduct further investigations. He expressed sympathy for the victims’ families and encouraged them to contact the FRSC office in Ibafo for more information.
