No fewer than seven persons including a couple have lost their lives in an auto crash at the Ogidi village axis, along the Osogbo/Gbongan Road in Osun State.
The accident involved a Nissan Sharon car with an ash color and registration number WWD57AE.
According to an eyewitness, the driver of the vehicle, who was reportedly traveling from Osogbo to Odeomu, was operating at a high speed when he lost control, causing the vehicle to veer into a ditch.
Henry Benamaisai, the Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Osun State, confirmed the incident to Channel Television. He disclosed that ten individuals were involved in the accident.
Regrettably, the crash claimed the lives of seven commuters, including a couple, while three others sustained injuries. The injured victims were promptly transported to Osun State University Teaching Hospital in Osogbo, while the remains of the deceased were taken to the hospital’s morgue.
Benamaisai further noted that the operation involved personnel from the Nigeria Police Force, and they recovered two bags containing clothing at the accident site.
He emphasized the importance of responsible driving and adherence to traffic regulations as a preventive measure against road accidents that can result in the loss of lives and property.
