Reports indicate that at least seven travellers have been abducted while travelling along the Onne waterways in Rivers State.
According to sources, the abduction occurred on Monday as gunmen targeted passengers aboard a boat bound for Port Harcourt.
Confirming the incident, the Rivers State Police Command, through its Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Grace Iringe-Koko, stated that the boat was carrying a total of 20 passengers.
PPRO Iringe-Koko stated, “Yes, the O.C Marine informed me that a boat carrying 20 passengers from Bonny to Onne was intercepted by daredevil sea pirates along the Onne River where they were robbed before 7 of them were abducted and taken to an unknown destination.”
