Adeniyi Oluwaseun, the Acting Head of the Audit Department at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, tragically took his own life on Sunday by jumping into a well.
The incident occurred in the Obantoko area of Abeokuta, Ogun State, shortly after Adeniyi had dinner. Sources confirmed that one of his children was preparing for an upcoming wedding, which was set to take place a month before the tragedy.
His body was recovered from the well and taken to the morgue. While the exact reasons for the suicide remain unclear, it is known that Adeniyi had a history of mental health struggles, although the specifics are not disclosed.
Segun Orisajo, Head of the Public Relations and Communication Unit at FMC Abeokuta, confirmed the incident, expressing deep sorrow on behalf of the hospital management. He described Adeniyi as a dedicated and loyal staff member, whose untimely death was a shock to all.
“The management is deeply saddened by this loss and extends condolences to the department and the family,” Orisajo said.
Attempts to reach the Ogun State Police Command for further comment were unsuccessful.
