Six suspected kidnappers arrested as police rescue three victims in Nasarawa
Police operatives from the Assakio Division of the Nasarawa State Command, working alongside vigilante groups, have arrested six suspected kidnappers and rescued three victims.
The suspects were apprehended during a coordinated security operation carried out at their hideouts in Angara and Fadaman Bauna villages, located in the Lafia East Development Area.
Confirming the development in a statement on Friday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Ramhan Nansel, said the victims were rescued unharmed, treated, and later reunited with their families.
According to the statement, a complaint was lodged on January 7, 2026, reporting that suspected kidnappers had invaded Angara village, abducted two females leaving behind an infant and later kidnapped another male from the same community.
Following the report, the Commissioner of Police, Nasarawa State Command, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, ordered an immediate manhunt for the perpetrators. The operation subsequently led to the arrest of the suspects and the successful rescue of the victims.
Nansel disclosed that the suspects have confessed to the crime and have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department SCID for thorough investigation and prosecution, on the directive of the Commissioner of Police.
The Commissioner of Police reassured residents of Nasarawa State of the command’s continued commitment to combating all forms of criminality across the state.
