FOLLOWING directives from the Benue State Chief Judge, a coroner’s inquest into the death of Late Sixtus Akure has commenced before Chief Magistrate Court 1 presided over by Vincent Kor DCJ.
Before his brutal murder, Late Sixtus Akure, was a staff of Benue State Internal Revenue Service (BIRS).
The lifeless body of Sixtus Akure, a Senior Inspector of Taxes, who was attached to Gazetted Inspection Point located near C Division Police Station, in Northbank, Makurdi, was found by the roadside, near Aper Aku Estate, a day after he was abducted at his duty post on January Saturday, 16th 2022.
At the commencement of hearing into the coroner’s inquest, the presiding judge, Vincent Kor DCJ, adjourned proceedings to 22/3/2022 on the request of counsel to Benue Internal Revenue Service (BIRS) Barrister Mike Utsaha, who appealed alongside Barrister Desmond Wendeh, to enable him reduce their witness testimonies into writing and file them, to make the work of the Coroner easy.
Thirteen staff of BIRS are schedule to testify at the inquest.
Others are the Commissioner of Police, Commander 72 Special Forces Battalion, whose men were said to have been culpable in the deceased’s death among others.
