In the early hours of Sunday, the residents of Giyawa community in Goronyo Local Government Area of Sokoto State took matters into their own hands by neutralizing a suspected bandit.
The community bravely stood their ground against fleeing bandits, who were reportedly from Samana village in Binji Local Government Area of the state. These bandits were attempting to pass through Giyawa en route to their hideout in the Goronyo forest.
In a heroic act, the community not only thwarted their passage but also managed to recover approximately 150 rustled livestock from the criminals.
According to a source, Giyawa had recently witnessed a series of unfortunate events, including the alleged killing of four individuals, abduction of 18 others, and the rampant theft of livestock.
Efforts to obtain comments from the acting spokesperson of the Sokoto State Police Command, ASP Ahmad Rufa’i, were unsuccessful at the time of compiling this report.
