Sokoto: Gov Aliyu dethrones 15 traditional rulers

Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State has deposed 15 District Heads on grounds of alleged insubordination, involvement in land racketeering, complicity in fostering insecurity, and misappropriation of public assets.

This development was communicated through a statement by the Governor’s press secretary, Abubakar Bawa, on Tuesday in Sokoto.

The deposed District Heads include those from Unguwar Lalle, Yabo, Wamakko, Tulluwa, lllela, Dogon Daji, Kebbe, Alkammu, and Giyawa districts. Additionally, individuals appointed by the former Governor Aminu Tambuwal during the twilight of his tenure were also affected.

“Their removal stems from irregularities in their appointments, which were reportedly made without due process and faced opposition from their communities,” the statement clarified.

Affected District Heads include Marafan Tangaza, Sarkin Gabas Kalambaina, Bunun Gongono, Sarkin Kudun Yar Tsakkuwa, Sarkin Tambuwal, and Sarkin Yamman Torankavwa.

Furthermore, cases involving District Heads of Isa, Kuchi, Kilgori, and Gagi have been earmarked for further investigation.
