‘Some politicians are fraudsters’ –Yemi Alade

Nigerian afropop singer, Yemi Alade, has asserted that some government officials are fraudsters.

The “Shekere” singer stated this during an Instagram live session she held in the wake of the #EndSARS protests.

She said, “You need to fear the Nigerian government because they are the real Yahoo (Internet fraudsters). They are the pioneers of Yahoo.

Just write one email, sign one document and money would flow into your office. Is that not Yahoo? Sometimes, I cannot believe this is where we are.

I also blame us (citizens) because we have adopted the ‘e go better’ mentality. However, things won’t get better till we start championing the fact that we are one despite our tribal differences. I honestly don’t know how we got here. I chose music. I am not in any legislative or judicial arm of government. I cannot believe that this is the Nigeria that my children will be born in.”

Decrying the lack of jobs in the country, Alade added, “There are no jobs. All the government organisations that are supposed to provide jobs are giving it to their families and village members.

That way, when they decide to run for any office, their kinsmen would vote for them. They feed fat on our birthright and use it to deceive more people in the country.

They are spoiling the system that allows qualified people to get jobs. Honestly, talking about Nigeria drains one’s energy.”
