Son of RCCG founder, Pastor Ifeoluwa dies suddenly at 63
Pastor Ifeoluwa Akindayomi, the youngest son of Pa Josiah Akindayomi, founder of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has passed away at the age of 63.
He reportedly died on Sunday, November 2, in what family sources described as a “sudden and shocking” incident. His death comes 45 years after his father’s passing and just seven months after that of his elder brother, Pastor Kolade Akindayomi, who died on May 4, 2025.
According to reports, Pastor Ifeoluwa had been in good health and even served as chairman of a wedding ceremony just a day before his death.
A close family friend told Church Times that the pastor slumped and died at his home within the RCCG Camp after returning from a prayer walk on Sunday morning.
“He had gone for a prayer walk and returned home to prepare for Sunday service when he missed his step and fell, hitting his head on a sharp object. He sustained a head injury and passed out. Before help could arrive, he had already passed away,” the source said.
Until his death, Pastor Ifeoluwa served as Assistant Provincial Pastor of Ogun Province 5 of RCCG and was also the owner of a thriving printing business.
Family sources disclosed that his wife and children live in Canada, while he remained in Nigeria to manage his business and church responsibilities. He had recently obtained permanent residency in Canada and was preparing to join his family abroad before his sudden death.
His close friend and fellow RCCG pastor, Debo Akinyemi, described him as “a humble and quiet man who never threw his weight around.”
“He lived simply and never sought attention despite being the founder’s son. He loved God, treated people with kindness, and maintained lasting friendships. His house was always open to many during the RCCG convention,” Akinyemi said.
Akinyemi, who attended Molusi College, Ijebu-Igbo with the late pastor, recalled him as “a perfect gentleman, pleasant, and deeply devoted to God.”
“He never bragged about his lineage or position. He lived for service and simplicity. I am deeply saddened by his passing,” he added.
Pastor Ifeoluwa’s death has thrown the RCCG community and his acquaintances into mourning.
