The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has slammed the leadership of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) for omitting him in the line-up of speakers at the Annual General Conference (AGC) of the organisation which held in Lagos.
Recall that less than five presidential candidates for the 2023 general elections were invited to the much-followed NBA event, a week-long programme which ended on the 26th of August. But Sowore was ignored, leaving the presidential hopeful angry.
“I was not invited, but I was not surprised,” Sowore said in a video interview with Arise TV.
“Some of these organizations have made such decisions in the past.
“I think it was a political decision on behalf of the NBA leadership. I think it is wrong on their part, and this is how elections are rigged beforehand.
“They know that if I were to show up in that line-up, I will say things that might have unsettled some of the people that were invited.
“And maybe those people in advance might have requested that they don’t want their shoulders ruffled, ‘please don’t bring people like Sowore here who will come and say things that might make us uncomfortable.”
