Miss Queen, the mother of Nigerian musician Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington, has made an emotional plea to singer Damini Ogulu, aka Burna Boy, for forgiveness following her son’s reported disappearance.
This comes just days after Darlington shared a video online criticizing the Afrobeats star.
In a heartfelt video posted on Instagram, Miss Queen alleged that she was informed by her son’s security personnel that Burna Boy and his associates visited Darlington’s home and took him away.
“Good day everyone, good day Nigerians. My name is Mrs. Queen, I am Darlington’s mother. I just received information that my son, Speed Darlington, is missing. His gateman informed my family that Burna Boy came with his team and they took Darlington from his house.
“Please, Darlington is my only son, my only child. I am begging Nigerians, everyone, to help me plead with Burna Boy. Burna Boy, I am on my knees, please, have mercy on my son. I am begging for forgiveness. Temper justice with mercy. He is my only son, please forgive him.”
In the video, Miss Queen tearfully appealed to Darlington’s fans and Nigerians to help her plead with Burna Boy for her son’s release. She reiterated that Darlington is her only son, and she is also a grandmother.
“To all Darlington’s fans, please help me beg Burna Boy. Burna Boy, please temper justice with mercy. I am his biological mother, and I am on my knees, asking for forgiveness. He is my only child, and I am begging for mercy.”
Miss Queen further explained that she is currently out of the country and has no other means but to plead with Burna Boy for her son’s release.
“Please, let this message touch your heart. I know you will listen. I am begging for mercy from wherever I am. Please, forgive my son.”
Meanwhile, activist and lawyer Deji Adeyanju confirmed that Speed Darlington, also known as Akpi, is in the custody of the Nigerian Police Force in Abuja. Adeyanju revealed that Darlington was arrested in Lagos last Friday and transferred to Abuja, where he remains in detention.
According to Adeyanju, the arrest was made following a formal complaint filed by Grammy Award-winning artist Burna Boy, although further details of the petition have not been disclosed.
