SS2 students beat teacher to coma in Kogi

Muktar Salihu, a Physics teacher at Ebira Muslim Community College Okengwe (EMCCO) in Okene Local Government Area, Kogi State, was reportedly beaten into a coma by a group of students from SS2.

The attack was allegedly carried out by students acting under the guise of a cult group, aiming to assert control over the school and its administration. The teacher is currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.

Reports from Vanguard reveal that the leader of the group, Abdulbatin, is the son of a local traditional ruler, the Opokitipo of Esusu Clan in Okengwe.

In the wake of the assault, a fellow teacher has urged state authorities, including the Ministry of Education and security agencies, to intervene and address the growing influence of cult groups in the school. The teacher emphasized the need to discipline students and prevent further incidents.

The District Police Officer in the area has reportedly intervened, ordering the traditional ruler to present his son by tomorrow.
