Stakeholders in Ogbadibo LGA of Benue State have lauded Comrade Daniel Onjeh, Chairman BoT, Project Development Institute for facilitating the construction of a laboratory and solar-powered borehole in Okam High School.
The laboratory is equipped with sciences apparatus.
The project has been described by many stakeholders as a welcome development.
Many believe that the project will in no small measure help to revive the culture of studying science, which is gradually going into extinction in senior secondary schools in the community.
Speaking with IDOMA VOICE, the Principal of Okam High School, Mr. Onogwu James, thanked the Onjeh siting the project in Okam High School.
He said the project has sparked elation among students of the school, especially science students.
“Particularly, I am happy over this. My students are equally happy because this is the first of its kind in our community.
“We are not unaware of the efforts Comrade Onjeh put to make sure the project is brought to Ogbadibo, nay, Orokam.
“It will no doubt revive the dying culture of studying science in our community.”
Also speaking, the coordinator of Orokam Water and Electricity Project Committee, Abah Anthony Ekere hailed Onjeh for putting his community first.
He said the project will go a long way in resolving challenges of science students in our community.
His words, “The few students that chose to study science have no laboratory where they can have practical experience of the theories they were taught in class.
“I’m sure neighboring senior secondary schools will take advantage of this, they will visit Okam High School on excursion to teach their Science students practical
“Secondly, the Solar-Powered Borehole will supply good water not only to the laboratory and students but the neighboring community. This will further reduce the suffering of people.
“We can not take for granted the efforts of Comrade Daniel Onjeh, who as chairman PRODA board of directors ensured the approval and execution of this project. PRODA currently assigned only one of this project to each of the six geopolitical zones in the country and the one assigned to north central is what we have here on our doorstep. This is commendable.”
