If you’ve received an email regarding the sponsorship of your parents or grandparents, you, as well as the individuals you wish to sponsor, must complete the application online through the Permanent Residence Portal. This application should be submitted by either the principal applicant (your parent or grandparent) or an authorized representative acting on their behalf.
If an authorized representative is submitting the application on behalf of the principal applicant, they must access their Representative Residence Portal account to do so.
Please ensure that IRCC receives your application no later than December 22nd, 2023, at 11:59 pm Eastern Standard Time. IRCC will not accept applications that are submitted after this deadline or that are incomplete.
In the event that you, your parents, grandparents, or the representative encounter difficulties with the online application, you may request an application in an alternative format.
When uploading your information and supporting documents, you should have received a barcode from IRCC via email, which corresponds to the information you provided when expressing your interest to sponsor. This barcode must be included as a digital copy under the “Additional Supporting Documents” section, with the document name specified as “Other” within the portal.
To ensure the completeness of your application:
The income requirement for the 2020 and 2021 tax years remains at the minimum necessary income, without the additional 30% requirement, to accommodate those who may have experienced a temporary loss of income during the pandemic.
The MNI serves as an important eligibility criterion for the Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP), demonstrating the sponsor’s financial capability to support the individuals they wish to bring to Canada. You can find more information on the MNI for the PGP by clicking here.
