Stop politicizing killings by Herdsmen in Agatu- Agatu Council Boss warns APC (Photos)

The Executive Chairman Agatu Local Government Council, Hon Alhaji Oyigocho, has reacted to reports making the rounds in various groups on Social Media, accusing the Agatu people of being responsible for their killings, which the author of the report claimed that one Ochokwu Alelu has been arrested in respect of the said crime.

The council boss in a statemet said “Ordinarily, one wouldn’t have bothered to respond to this cheap blackmail originating from APC e-thugs who have clearly seen that they have lost the forthcoming Saturday Presidential and National Assembly election and the March 9th Gubernatorial and State Houses of Assembly election and no amount of falsehood will make them retain their seat beyond this Saturday, 23rd February 2019.

“It is rather unfortunate that, instead of condemning the killings in Ebete by herdsmen, the APC decided to play politics with the lives of people on a sensitive matter as this knowing fully well that the Council Chairman and the entire Agatu people have been thrown into mourning their loved ones who are yet to be buried.

“To set the records straight, Ochokwu Alelu bought a portion of fishing pond from Ole-Gada’gEchono where he had already paid part of the money. On Tuesday, 19th February 2019, Ochokwu went to fish from the pond which he bought, it was then the traditional Ruler Chief Ali, who sold the pond to Ochokwu said until the balance of his money was paid him, Ochokwu should not go into the pond for fishing.

“Chief Ali immediately invited the police to arrest Ochokwu when he discovered that Ochokwu insisted that he must fish on the pond even when the agreed amount was yet to be paid.

“The unprovoked attacks on Ebete people by herdsmen which led to the death of 16 persons, occurred on Wednesday (20th February 2019) at exactly 1.am when the residents were deep asleep.” He said.

The Council Chairman who got the unfortunate and sad news of the death of the people, had quickly rushed to the scene of the incidents with security men and some Council members where they recovered the bodies of the slain Agatu people by herdsmen.

“How can any sane person link the yesterday arrest of Ochokwu Alelu who was in police custody throughout the time over a pond, to the unprovoked killings in Agatu by Fulani herdsmen?

“We are fully aware of the plans mapped out by APC members to disorganise election in Agatu having discovered that Agatu is PDP and shall deliver all PDP candidates in this forthcoming general elections.

“Let it be known to APC and their hirelings that, no amount of provocations, falsehood, blackmail, as well as intimidations, shall make them win election in Agatu.
PDP shall win all its elections without any vote missing. Agatu is PDP and the victories of all PDP candidates in Agatu are not negotiable.

“We call on the Security Agencies as well as President Muhammadu Buhari to call herdsmen to order and do the needful since no one has monopoly of violence. We are law abiding people and lovers of peace, but we must warn all those behind this evil killings in Agatu to henceforth stop it with immediate effect else we shall do the needful.” He added.
