The First Lady of Ondo State, Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, has provided assurance that her husband, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, will soon return from his medical vacation. Her announcement came during the opening of the 2023 BEMORE summer boot camp, an event aimed at empowering and inspiring young girls.
During her speech at the event, Mrs. Anyanwu-Akeredolu drew inspiration from a popular R. Kelly song, stating, “The storm is over now and we are seeing the sunshine.” Her optimistic words seemed to signal a positive turn of events regarding Governor Akeredolu’s health and imminent return.
It was reported that Governor Akeredolu’s presence was still awaited as he continued his medical treatment abroad. In response to a circulating video that suggested his return, his Chief Press Secretary, Richard Olatunde, clarified that the governor remained in Germany, fully focused on his recovery.
Addressing the attendees of the BEMORE summer boot camp, Mrs. Anyanwu-Akeredolu emphasized the importance of nurturing young talents and instilling valuable skills in girls. She highlighted the significance of the BEMORE program, which provides a platform for girls to undergo life-changing experiences and develop into confident and capable individuals.
In her words, “This, for me, is an exceptional opportunity to build these promising girls into confident, competent, and worthy women who, in the fullness of time, will rewrite the narrative around womanhood.”
Acting Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Ayedatiwa, echoed the sentiment of hope and anticipation for Governor Akeredolu’s return. He commended the BEMORE initiative for its transformative impact on the lives of young girls, praising the First Lady’s vision to empower and uplift the girl-child.
