Subsidy palliative: Alia to provide shuttle buses in Makurdi, Gboko, Otukpo

Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia of Benue State has unveiled a strategic plan to harness the five billion naira allocation from the federal government. This financial assistance is directed at alleviating the challenges that citizens are confronting due to the recent subsidy removal.

The Governor made this significant announcement while inaugurating the distribution of relief materials to the victims of the 2022 flood in Makurdi on Tuesday, August 22, 2023. During his address, he highlighted the state’s commitment to addressing the needs of its citizens during challenging times.

Revealing that Benue State has already received two billion naira from the allocated funds, Governor Alia conveyed the state’s anticipation of the remaining amount. This allocation will be utilized to implement a series of initiatives aimed at enhancing the welfare of the people.

One noteworthy initiative is the introduction of shuttle buses in the three major towns of Makurdi, Gboko, and Otukpo. These buses are envisioned to streamline movement within these towns, making transportation more efficient and accessible for residents. This strategic move is expected to improve urban mobility, further contributing to the well-being of the people.
