In an interview on Channels Television, Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on media and publicity, revealed the President’s intention to “double” the current minimum wage.

Thursday Night Interview Unveils Ambitious Plan

Ajuri Ngelale, during a candid interview on Thursday night, disclosed President Bola Tinubu’s ambitious plan to increase the national minimum wage. The special adviser stated that the President is seriously considering doubling the current minimum wage to better support Nigerian workers.

Petrol Subsidy Removal Concerns

Ngelale acknowledged that the removal of petrol subsidy is causing difficulties for many Nigerians. However, he asserted that the federal government is fully aware of the challenges faced by the citizens and is actively working to address them.

Increased State Funds to Support the Wage Hike

With the subsidy removal, Ngelale pointed out that states now have additional financial resources, enabling them to afford a higher national minimum wage. Currently set at N30,000, the potential wage increase would provide much-needed relief and improved living standards for the nation’s workforce.

The Promise of Economic Advancement

President Bola Tinubu’s government is committed to fostering economic growth and ensuring the well-being of all Nigerians. The proposed plan to double the minimum wage aligns with the administration’s goal of uplifting the workforce and promoting a prosperous nation.

As the proposal gathers attention and anticipation, Nigerians eagerly await further updates from President Tinubu’s administration, hopeful for positive developments that will enhance their livelihoods.
