Nigeria’s Super Eagles secured their place at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) after Rwanda fell 1-0 to Libya on Thursday.

The deciding goal was netted by Fahd Saad Mohamed in the 84th minute at Kigali’s Amahoro Stadium, quieting the home crowd and confirming Nigeria’s AFCON berth.

This development precedes Nigeria’s own qualifier against Benin Republic at Abidjan’s Stade de Houphouet Boigny.

Heading into the game, Nigeria leads Group D with 10 points from four games, while Benin follows with 6 points from the same number of matches.

Rwanda trails with 5 points, and Libya sits at 4 points, both having only one match left in the qualifiers.

On Thursday, Nigeria joined three other teams—Gabon, South Africa, and Uganda—in qualifying for Morocco 2025 without needing to play, as results elsewhere in the qualifying rounds solidified their spots in the tournament.
