Supercop Dan Zuru buried in Kebbi after deadly ambush in Benue
The remains of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Danlami Usman, fondly known as Dan Zuru, have been laid to rest in his hometown, Jambirmi, Zuru Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The 53-year-old officer was killed in a bandits’ ambush in Benue State and was buried on Saturday morning after a brief but emotional funeral attended by family members, friends, colleagues, and senior police officers.
A wake-keep was earlier held at his residence in the Mobile Police Barracks, Adeke, Makurdi, before his body was conveyed from the Benue State University Teaching Hospital on October 3, 2025, to Kebbi for interment.
At the burial, colleagues and mourners paid glowing tributes to the fallen officer, describing him as a gallant and dedicated supercop, a devoted family man, and a peace-loving patriot who gave his life in service to the nation.
ASP Usman’s death has been described as a monumental loss to the Nigeria Police Force and the country at large.
