‘Supporting Tinubu publicly affected my career’ – Toyin Abraham advises Timini to stay neutral
Renowned Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has revealed that her public endorsement of President Bola Tinubu during the last election negatively impacted her career.
The actress shared this while advising actor Timini Egbuson on strategies to make his movie a Box Office success.
Toyin cautioned, “The first advice I will give you in my entire life is don’t put your mouth in politics. Don’t tell them you’re supporting anybody. Don’t support anybody, just be on your own. Be neutral.”
When Timini reminded her of her open backing for Tinubu in the last election, she responded: “That was then.”
Reflecting on the repercussions for her work, she exclaimed, “Haaaaaaa, it affected me oooo.”
IDOMA VOICE reports that in early 2024, Toyin Abraham had raised concerns after her film Ijakumo (Born-Again Stripper) was reportedly being circulated on WhatsApp without authorization.
Criticizing the backlash her political stance attracted, she remarked, “You all will tell the world why choosing my own candidate is a crime and yours is not.”
This followed a social media movement where netizens vowed to boycott her movie because of her support for Tinubu.
