Suspected herders attack Benue communities, six killed, one missing

At least six persons were feared dead on Sunday following multiple attacks by suspected armed Fulani herdsmen on a community in Gwer West LGA of Benue State.

According to sources, the attacks unfolded over several hours, with the assailants departing without encountering any resistance from the vulnerable community.

According to a source, Mr Perver Acham, “The herdsmen numbering 10, in the early hours of Sunday, attacked Tse Gamber in Sengev Council Ward, killing three persons with one Iorhon Dam being taken away by the attackers.”

Furthermore, reports indicated that the settlement of Camp, Nagi, Mbachohon Council Ward, situated along the Naka-Agagbe road, was targeted on Sunday evening. In this attack, three individuals lost their lives, and several more sustained injuries.

He added that the bodies of the victims could not be removed for fear of another attack.

SP Sewuese Anene, the Benue State Police Command PPRO, confirmed the attacks and revealed her personal loss, as she mourned the deaths of three of her cousins during the Sunday morning attack.

No official statement from the military operatives stationed in the areas at the time of this report.
