Troops arrest suspected kidnapper, cattle rustler in Borno

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have arrested a suspected kidnapper and cattle rustler during an intelligence-led operation in Borno State.

A military source said the suspect, Usman Muhammed, 37, from Dapchi Local Government Area of Yobe State, was arrested at about 1:30 p.m. on June 10 at Buratai Market in Biu Local Government Area of Borno.

The source stated that troops of the 135 Special Forces Battalion carried out the operation in collaboration with local hunters and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) after receiving credible intelligence on the suspect’s alleged involvement in kidnapping and cattle rustling.

During the arrest, troops recovered two chickens, a Tecno mobile phone, a lighter, a knife, a national identity card, charms, and N70,000 in cash.

The suspect and the recovered items have been handed over to the relevant military investigation unit for further action.

The source added that the arrest is part of ongoing efforts by Operation Hadin Kai to dismantle criminal networks and strengthen security across the North-East.

He also noted that the general security situation in the theatre remains calm but unpredictable, with troops maintaining heightened vigilance and operational readiness.
