SWAT: Armed thugs attack anti-SARS protesters in Abuja

The anti-SARS protest was on Wednesday resisted by armed thugs in Abuja.

The thugs accused of being Hausa boys attacked the anti-SARS protesters at Berger, Abuja.

They disrupted the protest using using cutlasses, chasing protesters, and destroyed vehicles parked in the area.

It was learnt that some protesters sustained different levels of injuries and have been rushed to the hospital.

Recall that the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, had dissolved SARS while setting up a new unit to replace the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).

The Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team will “fill the gaps” arising from the dissolution of SARS, according the the IGP.

Despite the announcement, the protest is still on-going in different states.
