Following the verdict of the Lagos State Government to exonerate five students and staff of Dowen College who were alleged to have a hand in the death of Sylvester Oromoni, some concerned citizens have stormed the school in Lekki, Lagos, to demand its continued closure.
The protesters suspected to be Ijaw indigenes were seen on branded shirts, bearing placards with inscriptions of solidarity with the Oromoni family.
12-year-old Sylvester was reported to have died as a result of a poisonous substance he was forced to consume by five students of Dowen College after he refused to join their cult group.
The protest on Thursday followed the ‘not guilty’ verdict delivered by the Lagos State Government through the Director of Public Prosecution Wednesday.
The verdict also stated that any of the suspects who is still in police custody be released.
The devastated mother of the deceased took to social media after the verdict, to express her grievance. She cried out to God to avenge her son.
