‘Take heart, accept Tinubu as your president’ – Speaker Abbas to Atiku, Obi

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, has extended his condolences to the candidates of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP), urging them to remain steadfast in the face of adversity.

Speaker Abbas, while acknowledging the Supreme Court’s verdict in favor of President Bola Tinubu, expressed that this outcome was widely anticipated. He offered his congratulations to the President and remarked, “To God be the glory. It is not something unexpected; it is something that we have been waiting for. We know ultimately that what we heard today is what is going to be said, but given the fact that it has come at these early hours, we have nothing to say but to say thank God for Nigeria. Thank God for all the good people of Nigeria who prayed for this particular day for this historic victory.”

He emphasized that with the pronouncement of the Supreme Court, it was time to refocus on the nation’s well-being, stating, “I think this time around, after this pronouncement, we have no excuse but to go back to business as usual, to go back and reset our agenda and see what we can be able to do for the people of Nigeria for the next three and a half or four years.”

Offering words of consolation to the opposition candidates, Speaker Abbas urged them to find solace in the fact that there is always one victor at a time and that this is President Tinubu’s time. He encouraged them to come together, join hands, and collaborate with the President to move Nigeria forward, promising a brighter future for the nation.
