Taraba govt and UN unite for sustainable development

Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to fostering a conducive environment for international agencies to operate effectively within the state.

During a recent meeting with Mathias Schmal, the United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator, held in Jalingo, the state capital, Governor Kefas expressed confidence that the presence of the international community in Taraba would significantly assist the local population and improve their well-being.

Identifying crucial challenges faced by the state, the Governor highlighted the importance of addressing issues related to food security, quality healthcare, education, structural development, and climate change.

Governor Kefas made a firm commitment to overcoming these challenges, acknowledging that success requires collaboration and joint efforts. In this regard, he praised the United Nations for its long-standing history of providing invaluable support to countries facing difficulties.

To tackle these pressing issues, the Taraba administration will prioritize initiatives aimed at promoting renewable energy, agriculture, and responsible resource management.

In response, Mathias Schmal, the UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator, assured the Governor of the organization’s readiness and commitment to collaborating with the state.

Schmal recognized that Taraba’s priorities align with the global development agenda and emphasized that building peace is at the core of the United Nations’ mission.
