The Taraba State Police Command has successfully rescued three abducted individuals from Dutse Mubayu, near the Kona Mountains in Jalingo, the state capital.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Command’s spokesperson, Abdullahi Usman, revealed that the victims were kidnapped on December 6, 2024, in Sibre village, Ardo Kola Local Government Area.

“At about 2:30 PM on December 6, three individuals were kidnapped at Sibre village, prompting a swift response from operatives of the Jalingo Area Command, in collaboration with local vigilantes,” Usman stated.

He explained that the joint team pursued the kidnappers to Dutse Mubayu, where the criminals engaged them in a gunfight.

“Faced with the superior firepower of the police and vigilante team, the kidnappers abandoned their captives and fled the scene. The victims were rescued unhurt and reunited with their families,” he added.

The rescued individuals were identified as Idris Adamu, Umar Usman, and Ibrahim Usman. Additionally, the operatives recovered an AK-47 magazine loaded with 35 rounds of live ammunition.

Taraba State Police Commissioner Ukachi Opara lauded the collaborative efforts of the officers and vigilantes. He also directed the team to intensify efforts to apprehend the fleeing kidnappers.

Opara reassured residents of Taraba State that the Command remains committed to ensuring their safety and security.
