A 25-year-old teacher, Odugbesan Samson,oo has been arrested by Operatives of the Ogun Police Command for allegedly kidnapping his eight-year-old pupil identified as Rasaq Akeem.
According to the spokesperson of the state police command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said that the suspect who was a former teacher of the boy, allegedly kidnapped him when the boy went to school in Arifanla area of Akute in Ifo Local Government Area and hid him in an undisclosed location.
She added that the suspect later reached out to the boy’s mother through phone calls and demanded N200, 000 ransom. The victim’s mother, Fatimat Akeeb, reported the incident at Ajuwon Divisional Police Headquarters.
She said the Divisional Police Officer, Ajuwon Division,h Andrew Akinseye, led a team of detectives to investigate the matter, who discovered the suspect’s hideout, lured him out with part payment of ransom before he was arrestedWhen interrogated, the suspect admitted to committing the crime but blamed it on the devil.
