Teenager commits suicide after her father refused to buy her hijab in Jigawa

A teenager identified as Faiza Mustapha, has committed suicide at Maizogale village in Kiyawa Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

The young girl decided to take her life by handing herself on a tree after her  father refused to purchase Hijab for her.

A hijab is a veil worn by some Muslim women in the presence of any male outside of their immediate family, which usually covers the head and chest, and sometimes the face.

The Jigawa State Police Spokesman SP Abdu Jinjiri, confirmed the incident to Daily Post.

He said the deceased killed herself after she demanded her father to buy her a veil (Hijab) which he refused.

The Police added that the victim was taken to the Dutse General Hospital where she was confirmed dead.

He said the corpse was given to the family for burial.
