Tension in Aba as irate youths attack policemen on patrol, kill sergeant

Suspected hoodlums in the early hours of Tuesday attacked policemen on patrol around Uratta area of Aba.

A police sergeant identified as Okezie was killed in the police.

Report says the suspected hoodlums, dressed in black apparel, numbering about 20 were seen displaying dangerous weapons.

The slain sergeant was said to be on night patrol with some of his colleagues when they were attacked by the hoodlums at the Uratta Junction along the Enugu/Port Harcourt Expressway.

After killing the policeman, the gunmen made away with his AK-47 rifle.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Godfrey Ogbonna said a led by the Commissioner of Police, CP Janet Agbede has been dispatched for an on-the-spot assessment.
