Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has sent condolences to the family of Gyuse Doki and the Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ) over the passing unto glory of Terna Doki, an ace journalist who reportedly died in his sleep.
Late Terna Doki was a seasoned journalist who practiced as a correspondent with many national tabloids including Daily Independent newspapers and later served as Weekly Editor at Daily Trust Newspapers.
The Governor who lamented the passing away of the former Chairman, Correspondents’ Chapel, NUJ, Benue State Council called on indigenes of the state to pray for men of the pen profession especially, those of Benue extraction who have recently been falling victims of untimely deaths.
He said, “it is a thing of worry that sound journalists from Benue are dying at the time their contribution in building the state and the nation is needed most. This is a sad commentary for this noble profession.”
“Late last year, we buried a journalist who died in Abuja under questionable circumstances. This year alone, and within a very short time, we have lost Oliver Baka, Simon Okewu and now Terna is the third. This truly calls for prayers for journalists in this state”.
Governor Ortom while consoling the immediate family of the deceased, he prayed that God would grant them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
