Terrible accident along Iware-Wukari road, many crushed to death

An accident, involving an 18-seater Toyota bus, occurred along Iware / Wukari highway on Thursday, leaving eight people dead and many others injured. The accident bus carrying at least 11 passengers has crashed at Wukari along Iware road in Taraba State.

The police spokesperson, Usman Abdullahi confirmed the incident but couldn’t state the number of casualties until further details are released.
The driver’s attention was directed towards negotiating the bend and as soon as he drove onto the cemented part, the tyres burst.
The driver lost control of the vehicle which somersaulted several times before it landed right side up.
While seven of the passengers died on the spot, the other one, according to him, gave up the ghost while being rushed to hospital for medication.

One out of the nine passengers was also confirmed to have sustained various degrees of injuries and is presently undergoing treatment at the emergency ward of the Federal Medical Centre, Jalingo.
