Terrorist attack in zamfara claims two lives, abducts four others

Gunmen suspected to be bandits launched an attack on Maru town, the administrative center of Maru Local Government Area in Zamfara State. During the attack, two individuals lost their lives, and four others, including a lecturer from the College of State Education (COE), were abducted.

Gunmen suspected to be bandits have once again attacked Maru town, the headquarters of Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State, killing two persons and abducting four, including a lecturer from the College of State Education (COE).

According to a resident of the area, Usman Ibrahim, the gunmen stormed Maru town last Saturday night, killing two people and abducting four others, including Nasiru Mohammed Anka, a lecturer at the College of Education Maru.

“The terrorists entered the town with sophisticated weapons and began shooting sporadically. Later, they moved from house to house, where they abducted four people.

“They also opened fire on others who tried to escape the abduction. They killed two people and injured many others during the operation.”

Another resident, Isiaku, highlighted that the recent attack marked the fourth such incident in just one month. He urged the state government and relevant authorities to take decisive actions to address the dire situation.

“The terrorists have been attacking the town, even though it is a local government headquarters and very close to the Gusau-Sokoto road. Just last week, they attacked the town.”

All attempts by newsmen to get comments from the spokesperson of the State Police Command, ASP Yazid Abubakar, were unsuccessful, as he did not answer phone calls.
