Terrorists abduct 31 villagers in Niger

Terrorists abducted a total of 31 individuals from the Tsohon Kabula and Zagzaga communities within Niger state’s Munya local government area.

The abduction unfolded on Thursday, September 28, as the terrorists infiltrated the community on foot. Among those kidnapped, 23 were taken from the Tsohon Kabula community, while eight women were abducted from Zagzaga.

This attack occurred just two weeks after terrorists overran an entire community, seizing control of houses and even a place of worship. As the community was invaded, the men fled into the bush, leaving women and children behind, which provided the opportunity for the terrorists to seize eight women.

A community source reported, “This time around, they came on foot, and there were many of them, but we couldn’t determine the exact number due to the darkness. They arrived around 7:00 pm, and all the men ran into the bush for safety, but they abducted about eight women and took them away.”

Niger East Senatorial District representative, Alhaji Mohammed Sani Musa, expressed deep concern over the escalating terrorist activities in his district. He pointed out that five out of the nine local government areas in his senatorial zone are currently besieged by terrorists, leading to significant disruption of the local economy, particularly agriculture, and a rise in food scarcity and hunger.

Senator Musa called upon the government to take immediate action to restore normalcy in the affected areas. He stated, “The latest attack and act of terrorism targeting the people of my constituency, Niger East Senatorial Zone, by these criminal elements is inhuman, wicked, and unacceptable.”

Musa emphasized the urgent need to address the growing threat of terrorism in Niger state and other parts of the country, as it could undermine the government’s food security initiatives. He added, “If people are not allowed to go to their farms due to insecurity, how can we achieve the food security goals of the current administration? I strongly believe that the time to act is now, and that is why I am appealing for this situation to be tackled with the utmost seriousness for the well-being of Nigeria and its citizens.” Nation
