Benue State PDP leaders and members have been urged to unite and overcome the party’s current challenges by Ojotu Ojema, the representative of Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency and Chairman of the House Standing Committee on National Inland Waterways.
Speaking on behalf of National Assembly members during the unveiling of the timetable and sale of forms for the upcoming party congresses at the state party secretariat in Makurdi on Monday, Ojema emphasized the importance of unity.
He likened the party’s challenges to a test of faith, saying, “God always puts strong people on trial in order to test their faith.”
He added, “The challenges our party is experiencing today are for us to juxtapose the faithful and faithless members. Therefore, without trial, the faithful and committed members cannot be known. I believe that by God’s grace, we shall overcome our challenges.”
Ojema also called for a level playing field, urging the party leadership to provide equal opportunities for all members to participate in the forthcoming state, local, and ward congresses.
He added that this would allow anyone, regardless of background or status, to exercise their right to aspire for any position.
