The chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State, Comrade Emmanuel Abba Yaro, has said Governor Samuel Ortom will win his re-election bid in 2019, despite opposition from the political adversaries.
Comrade Yaro said this on Tuesday, at the APC national secretariat in Abuja, while answering questions from journalists.
He said those calling for his resignation and accusing him of taking unilateral decisions were not “real APC members”, but those who were already planning to join the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
“There is no way we will not win in 2019. Ortom will certainly win. The man has done brilliantly well. The man who came and put in order the School of Nursin. The School of Nursing was almost sealed up.The man came, renovated it and got accreditation for the schoo. They are now admitting students there.
“Is it the Medical Students that graduated after staying there for 7 years. They couldn’t go for NYSC before Ortom came to power. He came and cleared everything and made sure they sent all the medical students for practice and graduated, among many other life changing programmes in places already,” he said.
Yaro also insisted the relationship of his leadership with the Governor and the zonal party officials was fine.
“There are no allegations. Yes, I am the chairman, I am a principled chairman, I don’t compromise my integrity. I believe in internal democracy. Any election that comes, I make sure everybody goes to primaries,” Yaro said on the reasons why some people sought his expulsion.
