There won’t be peace in Nigeria if you confirm El-Rufai as minister Senate warned

Renowned socio-political commentator, Shehu Sani, has raised concerns and issued a strong caution against the Senate’s confirmation of Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, as a minister in the government. Sani’s remarks emphasize that peace within Nigeria could be compromised if El-Rufai’s confirmation proceeds.

In his statement, Sani criticized El-Rufai’s previous governance, labeling him as someone who wielded power with an air of arrogance, effectively “playing God” during his time as governor. He underlined that this same individual is now dependent on the Senate’s decision, exposing a shift in power dynamics.

Taking to Twitter to voice his perspective, Sani described El-Rufai as a religious extremist and political fanatic. His tweet reads: “The Unconfirmed Ministerial nominee; The Imp who was intoxicated with power, and who arrogantly played God is now at the mercy of those wielding power. A religious extremist with a fanatical political agenda should have no place in the seat of power if that nation desires peace.”

The Senate’s decision to withhold confirmation for El-Rufai, alongside two other nominees, citing security concerns, has ignited a debate over his suitability for a ministerial role. As the deliberations continue, the nation remains divided on the potential impact of El-Rufai’s appointment on the nation’s stability and harmony.
