The Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Dr. Paul Enenche, has described the recent attack on Yelewata community in Benue State as deeply disheartening and devastating.

The assault, which reportedly claimed over 300 lives, was allegedly carried out by suspected herdsmen in the early hours of Saturday.

Pastor Enenche, who cut short a journey to Kebbi State to visit the affected area, said he was compelled to be physically present to sympathize with the grieving community and offer spiritual comfort. Accompanied by his wife, he also extended his condolences to other communities in Benue, such as Apa, Agatu, Otukpo, and Gwer West, that have recently experienced similar violent attacks.

“We were in Europe last week when we received the news. It was painful and heartbreaking. Though we couldn’t return immediately, as soon as we got back, we made it a priority to be here,” he said.

He emphasized the need for urgent and decisive intervention by relevant authorities to halt the cycle of bloodshed in the state.

“We came here to assess the situation, to mourn with the people, and to bring a message of hope and peace from God,” Enenche stated. “This cannot continue. Whatever the leadership of our land needs to do, it must be done swiftly to restore peace to Benue State.”
